
The Chalet Saunton has teamed up with well-known big wave surfer, Andrew Cotton and surf trainer to the stars, Andrew Blake to offer a SurfFit retreat for surfers of all abilities, taking place this summer from 13-15 July 2018. With surfing being added to the list of sports at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, now is the time to get surf ready!
The SurfFit retreat will be run by Andrew Cotton, who is renowned in the big wave surfing world, having tackled some of the biggest waves ever surfed around the globe. Born and bred in Devon, Cotton will return to these shores for the retreat, alongside Andrew Blake, who has a wealth of experience in training Olympic athletes, international sports teams and the world’s best surfers.
THE CHALET SAUNTON SURF FIT RETREAT
The weekend programme will focus on the skills and techniques used for surfing which can be used both in and out of the water. Sessions will include surf-specific strength and conditioning, meditation, motivation and mindfulness, breathing and yoga, nutrition and will also include surf lessons for all abilities. The retreat aims to improve overall fitness, breathing, flexibility, core strength, mental outlook, diet and surf specific fitness. Each individual will receive an arrival screening, as well as an end of weekend analysis with advice on how to work on general and surf fitness going forward.
LUXURY ACCOMMODATION AT THE CHALET SAUNTON
Guests will stay in one of the Chalet Saunton’s luxury apartments which overlook Saunton Sands and are set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. As well as training to hit the waves, guests will enjoy yoga in the Penthouse with stunning ocean views, time to socialise with a communal BBQ and relaxation time to stroll along the sands at sunset or drink a bottle of locally-crafted beer.
Chalet Saunton’s SurfFit Retreat costs from £1,299 per person including two nights’ accommodation, all meals and training, plus surf safari and lesson. £100 of the booking cost will go to charity Surfers Not Street Children.
